HEAL Community Practitioner (fixed-term)

In response to overseas conflicts, local Queensland communities are reporting increased social tension, racism and collective trauma. HEAL and QPASTT are providing immediate responses to those in need, including information and support to several school communities. This role has been created to perform two key functions:

  1. Deep engagement with local communities impacted by current overseas conflicts to undertake a needs analysis and provide recommended actions for HEAL, QPASTT, other community stakeholders and State Government.
  2. Create opportunities for place based HEAL support for families. HEAL support will seek to alleviate distress, social disruption and conflict through respectful engagement and activities that promote individual and community wellbeing in the current context.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in working with former refugees and survivors of persecution, war or conflict. They will possess a strong understanding of the social determinants of wellbeing including the impact of racism, discrimination and geo-political tension. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in working with communities to build resilience and social cohesion.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position to 31 December 2024. Part-time options will be considered. Out of hours work will be required.

Team Leader Regional Services (North Queensland)

The primary purpose of this role is to lead, nurture and coordinate a team of multi-disciplinary practitioners to deliver high quality and impactful services to survivors of torture and trauma and ensure positive and productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
