Event Details
This 1.5 hour workshop will be offered at three different times throughout the day. This is so that educators and other school staff are given options as to when best suits them to attend. Please choose only one time slot when registering.
The video participants need to watch prior to this workshop will explore the impact of trauma on children. It will cover key concepts such as: the refugee journey and settlement experience; culture; the impact of trauma on attachment; development; education and learning; triggers; and how to spot signs and symptoms of trauma.
After viewing the video participants will be able to identify behaviours in children which may indicate a trauma history and understand the importance of supporting healing in a systemic way.
The key concepts covered in the video will be discussed during the workshop where participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions, reflect on how the content is relevant to their school and share ideas with other educators and school staff from across the region.
This workshop is relevant to anyone working with children from refugee backgrounds in an educational context including teachers, teacher aides, administration staff, EALD teachers and school principals.
