This 2.5 hour workshop has been developed to give participants an understanding of the key frameworks used in trauma recovery work with people from refugee backgrounds at QPASTT. Throughout the workshop we will be exploring key concepts including trauma, the core components of the trauma reaction, the recovery goals and ambiguous loss. Participants will have the space to reflect on the application of these frameworks to their current practices, to discuss and share ideas with others.
This workshop is relevant to people working in the field of trauma with clients from refugee backgrounds. It is also relevant for those who want to expand their understanding of the frameworks of trauma recovery.
Workshop facilitators:
Ana Pocrnjic – Regional Team Coordinator
Ana has worked in the sector for over 11 years predominantly providing trauma counselling to survivors of torture and displacement. Ana has a Bachelor of Behavioural studies and a Master in Social Work.
Ana has extensive experience in delivering training on trauma recovery and is passionate about sharing knowledge and practice wisdom, especially targeted to regional areas and it’s unique strengths and challenges.
As Regional Team Coordinator, she works alongside QPASTT staff in Toowoomba, Cairns and Townsville.
Amy Woodman — Counsellor / Advocate
Amy is a Counsellor at QPASTT and works with both children and youth as well as adults providing individual therapy. Amy has a significant history of working with marginalised individuals and their families. Her experience consists of working in the public, government and community sectors. Amy has completed a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Counselling

Pre-requisite for Workshop:
It is a prerequisite that all participants attending our workshops have completed the ‘Online Introduction to the Refugee and Settlement Experience’ – This online training will automatically be added to your cart free of charge upon checkout. Please ensure you have completed this 1.5hr online training before attending the workshop
Cancellations:
This training is capped to a maximum of 30 participants. Please inform QPASTT as soon as possible if you are unable to attend so that we can offer the place to other individuals.
