We provide counselling to asylum seekers who have been released from Australian Immigration Detention centres and who are currently living in the community, while their claims for protection are assessed. This includes adults, young people and children. We also provide counselling to those who are currently still residing in the Brisbane International Transit Accommodation (BITA) where clients travel from BITA, to our Brisbane office to attend appointments. Asylum seekers can be particularly vulnerable to psychological and physical distress due to long and uncertain periods of limbo waiting for a decision about their claims for protection.
We have agreements with the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Border Protection to deliver these services.
