QPASTT is proud to welcome two exceptional leaders to our Board of Directors: Dr Nora Amath and Dr Nga Tran. Their appointments, endorsed at our recent Annual General Meeting, bring deep expertise, strong values alignment and long-standing partnerships with QPASTT.
Dr Nora Amath
Dr Nora Amath is widely regarded for her work in multiculturalism, social inclusion, refugee settlement and community leadership. As a sociologist, community developer, author and senior leader in multiple national and international organisations, she has dedicated her career to advancing equity, dignity and safety for culturally diverse communities.
Noraโs contributions span domestic and family violence prevention, interfaith collaboration, womenโs leadership, youth engagement and systemic advocacy. Currently the Executive Director of the Islamophobia Register Australia and non-Executive Director of Yarah, she has also served as Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University, and Australian Fellow at the Centre for Women, Faith and Leadership in Washington DC.
Her work has been recognised with many honours, including the Queensland Day Award (2023), the Australian Muslim Achievement Award for Woman of the Year, and being named a finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards. In 2024, the United Nations included her in its global directory Building a Better World: The Women Leading Religions for Peace.
Nora has maintained a long and valued partnership with QPASTT through her leadership in community development, domestic and family violence prevention, intercultural engagement and advocacy for refugee communities.
Dr Nga Tran
Dr Nga Tran is an experienced consultant psychiatrist with more than 20 yearsโ experience working across refugee health, community mental health, perinatal psychiatry and private practice. Her career includes key roles at the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic, Queensland Transcultural Mental Health Centre, Centre for Integrative Health, and Metro South Mental Health.
Nga specialises in complex trauma presentations, eating disorders, perinatal mental health and culturally informed psychiatric care. Dr Tran has worked closely with QPASTT clinicians for many years, providing culturally informed psychiatric consultation and supporting collaborative approaches to trauma recovery for refugee survivors. Her expertise will further strengthen QPASTTโs commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe mental health pathways.
The depth of experience that Dr Amath and Dr Tran bring will be invaluable as QPASTT continues to respond to complex community needs and advocate for equitable, culturally responsive services.
