On the 26th of October, New Farm Cinema is screening Flee, an award-wining animated documentary. The film follows an Afghanistan-born gay man and his journey from escaping his home country as a child to discovering and coming to terms with his queer identity and coming out to his family.
Organised by Third Queer Culture, a Brisbane based peer group for LGBTIQ+ people who have an experience of seeking safety in Australia. This organisation aims to improve understanding of the complexities of the queer experience from people with diverse backgrounds and create a safe space for self-expression and community.
Tickets are available here. Tickets include drink on arrival starting from 6pm. Movie screening at 6:30pm followed by a Q&A with Third Queer Culture. Funds raised from tickets will go toward supporting TQC’s work. If you are able to, TQC will also be excepting cash donations at the event.
